SILFRA

Silfra Crack, located in Thingvellir lake , Iceland  can be literally called a dive between 2 continent.

Diving the Silfra is literally diving between 2 continent...you will be diving between the American and Eurasian continent. It's the place where the continental plates meet and drift apart 2 cm per year.
The visibility that you will experience can hardly be surpassed , it can reach sometime 100+ meters, and this is mainly because of the temperature of the water that is between 2 C and 4 C (35.5 and 39 Fahrenheit) all year long and since it has traveled several kilometers from the glaciers through the lava field to come out in the lake.

The Dive will be as follows; starting from a platform and then you ride the mild current caused by the underwater dwell and enjoy the scenery and astonishing underwater landscape as you approach the end of the crack , you take a left turn into what is called the Silfra Lagoon where a stunning and surreal view opens in front of you; It is approximatly 120 meters in diameter (393 feet) and shallow waters maximum 5 meters (16 feet) and wonderful visibility to an extend that you can see the other end.
Although the Lake has plenty of fish (Brown trout, Arctic charr and the three-spine stickleback), during your dive in the crack will encounter non of it except some small fish accidentally but who cares for the fish when diving in a 100 + visibility waters!!!

With a maximum depth of 18 meters ( 59 feet) and its fresh water and with a very low temperature makes from it a luxurious dive that only lucky divers can do it.
