BLACKJACK B17 Bomber

This is one of the not ordinary dive sites , this is one of the few times that you find yourself above a plane and remain alive :)

The Blackjack is a Boeing made B17 bomber it was dawned in 1945 during the second world war after a bombing mission to Japan. Lying at the bottom of the sandy sea at a depth of 45 meters (147 feet) off the shore of Papa New Guinea, This dive is only for divers having an advanced open water certification and above.

This wreck lies intact on the sea bottom despite its not so smooth landing, Divers can inspect the cockpit, the turret gun that can still move in their mounts with the ammunition still available, the seats are still in place.

With the Cristal clear waters of Papa New Guinea and the historical value of the plane together with the giant Groupers and other fish that you may encounter makes this dive sited one of  the top 10 wreck dives in the world.
